HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – It’s been quite a year for Little Wound senior Lance Christensen.
A year ago, Christensen made history by becoming the first ever student-athlete from Little Wound to win an individual state golf title.
Then just two months ago, he finished tied for 133rd at the National High School Golf Invitational at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
Christensen began his quest to defend his state title on Monday at the State ‘A’ Boys Golf Tournament in Hot Springs.
But he had a tough first round.
Christensen is tied for 28th after carding an 86.
The leader is Andrew Dykstra from Sioux Falls Christian who shot a 75 in the opening round.
Sioux Falls Christian also leads the team standings, as well.
